mine is an aiptek video/camera and once again $85 and has a voice-recorder an mp3 player and can also take pictures next to making 180 minute videos!

I still use miniDV and it looks 10x better than this digital crap. And with firewire, downloading off of a miniDV camera is as easy a plugging it in to a computer. I highly support miniDV. Its cheap, easy to use, and you don’t have to worry about a hard drive or SD card crashing,

I’ll tell you why the Sony Xacti SUCK and why you should NEVER get one if you’re a filmmaker. The Adapter plugs into the bottom. What does that mean? It means if you want to plug in a monitor, or even just keep the camera plugged in to charge or keep a dead battery going, you can’t set it on a tripod. Because the jack is in the way. Not to mention the quality is crap. I wouldn’t care if it was a Canon XL2, if I can’t put it on a tripod plugged in. What good is it?

You can get a great mini DV camera really cheap. I would suggest the Canon ZR series. You can even plug external mics into them…which is very important unless you are making silent films.
